Categories & Criteria

This year, we have split the categories into groups; The PeopleThe Suppliers and The Events.

Each category has carefully set out criteria to guide our judging process. With the growing debate around sustainability and creating a positive event legacy, we have asked entrants to give some thought to how they may have considered sustainability and if the event/festival/or individual is creating a legacy within the industry.

Best Scottish Venue & Events Team

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

• How the venue/space and team differentiates itself from competitors
• Demonstration of measurable success within last 12 months (See dates below)
• Evidence of innovative use of venue/space
• Feedback on how the team enhanced client/delegate experience
• Examples or supplier relationships to ensure seamless event delivery

 

Best Agency Event Planner/Team 

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

• Open to agency event planners or a team
• How the person/team consider the design of each event
• Evidence of different event formats produced by the person/team
• How the person/team faced challenges faced throughout the events/planning (budget, venue, security etc)
• Feedback about how the person/team succeeded at running the event/s

 

Best In-House Event Planner/Team

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

• How the person/team consider the design of each event
• Evidence of different event formats produced by the person/team
• How the person/team faced challenges faced throughout the events/planning (budget, venue, security etc)
• Feedback about how the person/team succeeded at running the event/s

 

Best Public Sector Event Planner/Team

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

• How the person/team consider the design of each event
• Evidence of different event formats produced by the person/team
• How the person/team faced challenges faced throughout the events/planning (budget, venue, security etc)
• Feedback about how the person/team succeeded at running the event/s

 

Rising Scottish Events/Festival Star

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

• Overall excellence in the delivery of all events/festivals
• Understanding of key event components
• Demonstration of being team player or team manager
• Evidence of creativity, innovation and meeting client/event objectives
• Delivery of event and delegate experience

Best Third Sector Event Planner/Team

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

• How the person/team consider the design of each event
• Evidence of different event formats produced by the person/team
• How the person/team faced challenges faced throughout the events/planning (budget, venue, security etc)
• Feedback about how the person/team succeeded at running the event/s

Best Association Event

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:


• How the event met the client’s core objectives
• Input into agenda and speakers and how this impacted on overall event success
• Marketing of event to achieve target audience
• Delivery of event and delegate experience
• Overcoming key challenges for example reduced budget, logistics or security
• Creative input

 

Best Third Sector Event

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:


• Demonstrate how effective the event was in promoting a cause/raising funds
• Outline challenges faced in organising the event e.g. reduced budget
• Evidence of how the event was part of an overall campaign
• Evidence of effective marketing campaign to achieve target audience
• Feedback on how the event impacted the overall campaign

 

Best Corporate Event (Private Sector)

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:


• The overall design of the event
• How the event met the core objectives
• How the format impacted on the overall success of the event
• Evidence of marketing to achieve target audience
• Client/delegate feedback

 

Best Public Sector Event

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

• The overall design of the event (venue choice, format, etc)
• How the event met the stakeholder’s core objectives
• Input into the content of the programme/agenda and how this impacted on overall event success
• How any challenges were dealt with during event planning or on the day (budget restriction, venue etc)
• Evidence of how the event was part of an overall campaign and the impact the event had on this

 

 

Best Student-led Event

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

• Overall concept of event
• Understanding of key event components
• Management of event team
• Marketing of event to achieve target audience
• Delivery of event and delegate experience
• Overcoming key challenges for example reduced budget, logistics or security

Please note: entries must be planned and delivered by students currently in fulltime education

 

Best Large Festival (over 1,000 attendees)

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

• Overall concept, design and guest experience
• Maximising of branding and sponsorship opportunities
• Evidence of thorough SAG process
• Impact on local community
• Management of suppliers and logistics
• Effective and imaginative use of space
• Delivery on the day/s

 

Best Small Festival (under 1,000 attendees)

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

  • Overall concept, design and guest experience
  • Maximising of branding and sponsorship opportunities
  • Evidence of thorough SAG process
  • Impact on local community
  • Management of suppliers and logistics
  • Effective and imaginative use of space
  • Delivery on the day/s
 

Best Sporting Event

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:


• Open to an event involving a sporting activity – either participating or spectating
• Overall concept, design and guest experience
• Choice and suitability of venue/location
• Maximising of branding and sponsorship opportunities
• Management of suppliers and logistics
• Impact of local community
• Evidence of how any potential street closures/additional parking and traffic were dealt with in the lead up to and during the event
• Delivery on the day/s

Best Technology & Communications Supplier

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

• Evidence of how the organisation has worked to improve a specific aspect of an event through its service/product
• How the organisation continues to meet or indeed exceed client expectations
• The key company USP’s and how this differentiates them from competitors
• Evidence of how the technology/communication system positively impacted an event/s
• Client testimonials on how service/product added to the overall event experience

 

Best Outdoor Supplier

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

• How the organisation continues to meet or indeed exceed client expectations
• The key company USP’s and how this differentiates them from competitors
• Evidence of how the product/company has positively impacted an event/s
• Client testimonials on how service/product added to the overall event experience

 

Best MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference & Events) Supplier (excluding venues)

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

• How the organisation continues to meet or indeed exceed client expectations
• The key company USP’s and how this differentiates them from competitors
• Evidence of how the product/company has positively impacted an event/s
• Client testimonials on how service/product added to the overall event experience

Best Sustainable Supplier

Judges have assessed the entries on the following:

• Evidence of how the organisation has worked to improve the sustainability of an event (big or small) through its service/product
• How the organisation continues to meet or indeed exceed client expectations in relation to sustainability
• The company’s key sustainable policy and how this differentiates from competitors
• Evidence of how the product/company has positively impacted on the sustainability factor of an event
• Client testimonials on how service/product added to the overall sustainability factor of an event
